To Become a Member
Becoming a Member of the Muscatine Search and Rescue Unit is very simple. First you need to fill out an application and Return it to the Captain of the Unit. After that the application is sent to the Sheriff's Office for a routine Background Check. The information from the background check is not shared with the Rescue Unit, but is used by the Sheriff's Office to make a recommendation to the Unit and it's Board of Directors. After the Background Check, the Application is taken to the Board of Directors for approval. Once this is done the new Member may begin their probationary period.
The only training that is required to be a Unit Member is First Aid and CPR. You may go on to acquire other training such as Diving, EMT, Swift Water Rescue, Boat Operations, Ice Rescue, and other specialized training.
